Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus came and told His disciples I have been given complete authority in heaven and earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

God has given us a job to do !!

This Great Commission can be summed up in the following 4 words:

WIN, CONSOLDIATE, DISCIPLE, SEND.

The Great Commission started way back in the Old Testament

Genesis 12:2-3 I will bless you and make your name great. And you shall be a blessing .. And in you all of the families of the earth shall be blessed.

We are Blessed to be a Blessing!

The Great Commission flows out of The Father’s Vision

Rev 7:9After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white and held palm branches in their hands. 10And they were shouting with a mighty shout, "Salvation comes from our God on the throne and from the Lamb!"

2 Peter 3:9 Not willing that any should perish, but all should come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ.

The Great Commission flows out of The Father’s Heart of compassion

Jesus looked upon the multiptudes ...

Matthew 9 :35

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.

In Chapter 10, he send out His disciples.

The Great Commission

This command can be broken into 4 parts

1. Go and make disciples – WIN people to Jesus

It is the Heart of God! John 3:16 NLT 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.

The heart of the church must be to reach out to people with God’s love!

2 Cor 5:19-20
Jesus said that He has given us the ministry(the Job) of reconciliation

And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.

2. Baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit  – CONSOLIDATE them to Jesus, making sure they are grounded in their salvation.

Matthew 13 Parable of the sower -  seed (the word of God)

Some fell on the path snatched away by birds
Some fell on Rocky ground, shallow, sprang up but then withered away.
    Sown amongst weeds
    Good soil

3. Teaching them to obey  all the commands that Jesus has given us. DISCIPLE.

Not just decisions, but followers of Jesus.(disciples)

To be like Jesus and live for His kingdom His cause.

School of leaders

4. The process starts over again – SEND – go and make more disciples.

The process of discipleship is not complete until the disciple becomes the discipler.

Starting a cell group which reaches out and wins people to Jesus

God has given each of us a mandate, as a church we can all play a part in this Great Commission. Let's seek to win people to Jesus, consolidate them in their faith. Disciple them so as they live their lives for Jesus and His Kingdom. Then in turn go and do likewise, making disciples.
