Metro held its first service on September 10, 2000 at the Cotah Theatre, Southbank TAFE. In February 2001, we moved into our new home, leasing the historic Princess Theatre. In 2003 the church purchased the theatre after much renovation and refurbishment. We have seen God add to us an amazing group of people committed to God and to one another. We are indeed sharing our lives together. 2005 saw the launch of Metro's youth ministry, Metropolis.

Missions has always been a core part of Metro, sponsoring 50 children in Vietnam in our first year. This has grown to embrace the 5 countries of the Pen Asia Region.

Metro is part of the Assemblies of God movement of churches which currently comprises over 1200 churches in Australia.

Our history is still being written, with 2006 seeing us branch out to plant Metro's first suburban congregation.
