The fifth and final giant David and his men encountered wasn’t given a name, but was described by his unusual physical attributes, namely 6 fingers and 6 toes on each hand and foot. We will call this giant – 6 fingers

Think of the  clutch or the grasp of this giant and his six fingers clutched around you as he took hold of you. A seemingly unshakable grasp. A tight grip.How you ever felt that there are areas in your life where the enemy seems to have such a hold grip on you, that you will never be able to get free from it?

It was Jonathan, David’s nephew who killed this giant Our Jonathan is Jesus Christ the only one who is able to defeat the giant of enslavement to sin.

What is the stone we use against this giant??

a) A belief in God’s power and His promises!!!

1 Corinthians 10:13     No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful, He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

The enemy has deceived us, and we have believed a lie- I can never change this, this is just too hard!!We have to let go of the fruit, the temptation so as to be free from the enemies trap.

B) Use the sword of the Spirit - Renew your mind,- start to believe the truth CHRISTIANS SHOULD QUOTE THE BIBLE WHEN TEMPTED.When Jesus was tempted He always quoted the Scriptures. Jesus was tempted to make rocks into bread, to throw Himself off of the pinnacle of the temple, and to fall down and worship Satan. Jesus answered, "It is written . . ." (Matthew 4:4).The Bible is a sword that will protect us when we are tempted. "For the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword" (Hebrews 4:12).The Bible is not magical. Just because we rub it like some people rub a rabbit’s foot, does not mean we will get victory.

  We must constantly study the Bible, constant study of the Bible will keep us clean. "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word" (Ephesians 5:26).

There is another aspect of enslavement , not just a particular habit, but a mindset, a belief, a lifestyle.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God . Fallen short of God’s plan, God’s purpose for our lives. We have become enslaved to a lifestyle short of God’s best. If we are only hoping for nothing more than to survive  the next day or week, that won’t work.

“There is a danger in aimlessness , and living without a sense of direction and purpose, we so easily fall back on our past and what we have known.” I can never rise above where I am now!

Hebrews 12:1 “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us”. Verse 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.Our goal to be and live like Jesus!
